Every water damage situation is a little different, and requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The steps listed below illustrate our process for the “typical” water damage emergency.

Smoke and Fire

Smoke can affect more property than the actual fire. Once the soot from the smoke has deposited itself into areas undetected, the carbon monoxide, soot, and other carried chemicals in the smoke will begin to break down the materials on which it rests. By the time one typically identifies a water loss from an indoor HVAC unit or a hot water tank, because they are mostly enclosed in non-living areas of homes or property, it has been leaking for hours on end. When one notices the water loss, it is generally because the leaked water seeps out from flooring, walls, or other areas that are higher in traffic. Track the water and look for those enclosed dark areas where microbials like to hide and live. The evidence of its persistent existence will likely be evident in the forms of molds.

This was a commercial mold remediation caused by the HVAC unit. The vent cover was removed; wiped out and treated the return and cleaned both vents. HEPA vacuumed the walls and ceilings as well as book shelves, desk and light fixtures; and then wet washed the book shelves, walls and ceilings.
